Inside Line Promotions – SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 12, 2019) – A trio of Blud Lubricants sponsored competitors captured top-five finishes last Saturday during a San Tan Ford ASCS Desert Sprint Car Series event.
Kyle Shipley garnered a runner-up result with his brother, Joshua, rounding out the podium at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. Joshua Shipley passed fellow Team Blud Lubricants driver Joe Scheopner for third place on the final lap to continue the strong start to the season for the three racers.
“I feel like we had the fastest car and had an excellent starting spot,” Kyle Shipley said. “I spent too much time trying to get around a slower car. After a red flag I knew I had to do something different to get around this car and I drove it in real hard on top. I was able to clear him and once I did we kind of ran out of laps to catch the leader. It would have been nice to run the top every lap, but the cushion was so gnarly it would make the car bicycle. All in all, it was a solid night collecting the runner-up spot.”
The second-place finish marked Shipley’s fourth top five of the season with the series.
Joshua Shipley’s late-race pass wrapped up his fourth consecutive podium outing with the series.
“We ran fifth for most of the race, but eventually fell back to ninth as I tried to avoid a wreck,” he said. “The car was good though and we were able to race our way back up to third. I wish that we would’ve had just a couple more laps. I think we could’ve gained at least another spot. Overall, it was a good weekend and I’m proud of the outcome.”
Scheopner’s fourth-place finish was his fourth top five this year.
The next series race for the trio of drivers is April 27 at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz.
