Inside Line Promotions – PEORIA, Ariz. (April 3, 2019) – Joshua Shipley is running for himself this season in the San Tan Ford ASCS Desert Non-Wing Series and everything is pointed in the right direction.

After two consecutive podium finishes last weekend, Shipley finds himself only four points behind the series leader, which is his brother, Kyle.

“We had a rough start to the season, but with some help with my friend, Sam, he got us in better shape,” Joshua Shipley said. “We’ve picked up a lot of speed and last weekend at Canyon Speedway Park, we won our heat races both Friday and Saturday night.”

Shipley charged from third to win a heat race on Friday. He lined up fourth for the A Main, but a driver error cost him early as he fell back in the pack. However, Shipley rallied to finish a season-best third.

“I was pumped with third place as that was our best finish of the year,” he said. “Saturday night I was feeling really confident and focused. We won our heat race and the car was running well.”

Shipley won the heat race from the pole. He started fifth in the A Main and ran second for a while before making a move to take the lead. With two laps to go, the driver in second got a run to make a late-race pass. Shipley finished second by just .025 seconds.

“I was pretty bummed that I didn’t grab the win, but overall it was a good weekend,” he said. “It’s hard to complain about two podium finishes in one weekend.”

Next up is a race this Saturday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. The San Tan Ford ASCS Desert Non-Wing Series will be the support class to the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
